Why do I need to know about current business issues? 

Business Studies is a subject where theory meets reality - where we learn theoretical models but we apply them to current news stories and business practices.  

Consequently, it's important that you are aware of what is going on around you, the students who get the best grades are those you are able to exemplify their points in essays with business examples they have knowledge of. 

This means it's important for students to keep up to date with the news, to read articles on and offline and to take an active interest in businesses which they work for, have done work experience at or which are owned in their family. 

Do you need to know lots of detail?

No - you don't need, for example, to know the whole history if Apple inc. but it would be useful  to remember that they had to close their factories in China as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak and it would be helpful to understand about the impact of this on the business as a whole -  as in this article below
