This A Level unit explores the turmoil that engulfed the final decades of the Roman Republic, including war (both civil and foreign), political intrigue and ever-changing allegiances.

The unit is 100% examined in one paper, contributing to 30% of a student's grade. They will need to:

• demonstrate knowledge of literary sources from the period and understanding of how they reflect the cultural context;
• analyse and evaluate different interpretations of the events of the period.
