I have attached a document containing some of the vocabulary that frequently comes up on JMC challenges, have a look through to remind yourself.

Remember there are lots of practice challenges on the UKMT website if you would like extra practice.

Also remember this Challenge is meant to be fun :)  It is designed to stretch and challenge the most able mathematicians so it is already a great achievement to have been selected for this.  There is no penalty if it doesn't go brilliantly but there is a chance of a certificate if it goes well.

See below the Word document for what you need to do to be ready for the Challenge.

Below are the steps you will need to take on Wednesday morning to make sure you are ready to start the Challenge at 10am along with some guidance about the Challenge:

Make sure you have in front of you a pen or pencil and plenty of plain or lined paper.

You are NOT allowed to use a calculator, ruler, protractor or squared paper.

Have your computer (or tablet / phone) switched on and connected to the internet.

Have accessible the username and password that your teacher has sent you.

NB There is no penalty for getting a question wrong. The questions get gradually harder. You are NOT expected to do all 25 questions. Most people concentrate on the first 15 and then try a few from the later ones if they have time. Later questions score 1 extra mark but take a lot longer:

The challenge lasts exactly 60 minutes. Your clock starts when you click on the start button. You can attempt the questions in any order, and you can always go back to change an answer. Your answers will be saved immediately. When you are done you can close your browser, logout or select the 'I am done' option beneath question 25.

If you have any problems on the day you will be able to email Mrs Knight for help (jennie.knight@gatewaysschool.co.uk)
